how i want to meet your mother 2: bill who?

Assalamualaikum wbt,

Kids, today I've learned another valuable lesson.

you know when bill gates said that he fails some of his papers but finally have a better position than his colleagues who pass all of their exam. I'm gonna explain the logic behind that from my view.
One of the mistakes in our education system is that, people determine the human value of a student  based on their score. For example, they think student who get 85 marks for a paper is better than people who get 75. But in reality, what we should do, is to consider the natural factor involved in the score.

Not all of us, given the same talent. Everyone, borned with different talent and different level of ability. Don't trust any person who says,"if he can do it, u can also do it because you are also a human as he is". Seriously, that is a total crap that my head been drilled on since I was in middle school.

Back to my explanation, for example, student who have natural talent, even they don't do anything, they still manage to get 85marks. on the other hand, student who don't really have any talent, who usually get 50, have to work really hard to get barely 75. you know who is better, kids? The one who got 75! Because, firstly, he score above his natural talent can score, and that is amazing. The second reason, by doing some effort, he actually learned, as compared to the other kid who did nothing(purely depend on talent). Conclusion? People who don't have talent, usually learned, in order to compensate for the lack of talent, people who have it usually don't!

So, what do i mean by "learning"? Learning in my own view, is not about memorising the formula, or getting the definition, the calculation, or anything about any subject that you're taking. It has a deeper meaning. It is not about knowing your subject as a bulk of fact, but to feel and gain the indirect implications from that subject that made you a better human. For example, indirectly, the 75-marks student, have a big chance to learn about how to interact with other people in order to get help about the subject, learn to use their time properly, and learn how to optimise the result given the limitations, rather than the 85-marks student who don't really need to do those things.

I'm not asking u here to score less. But score above your natural talent. By scoring above your natural talent, you actually grow mentally. But you have to work in smart ways, and not just blindly working hard. and by doing that, you will gain something from your effort and grow, insyaAllah.

remember, in evaluating yourself, it is not about getting more or getting less, but your evaluation is based on how much you have leapt from your starting point i.e. your natural talent.

Bill gates becomes awesome not because he score less, but rather because he leaped at a much further distance than his colleagues had leaped(maybe..). So, an indirect meaning of the quote doesn't ask you to be lazy, but to work hard appropriately so that u can learn and gain something to be a better human.

Allah does not judge you based on  talent that u have been given, but how much you have leaped in order to to reach the level of person who already has the talent. The same as saying, He does not really judge u based on your result, but also looking at the effort u've been putting in.

"bijak dengan pandai tu tak sama, orang bijak biasanya pandai, orang pandai tak banyak jadi bijak"

that's all

wassalam.
